How Should I Care For Skin After a PRP Treatment?

How Should I Care For Skin After a PRP Treatment?

You have heard about a treatment that will give you tighter skin with fewer wrinkles and a more even tone. This treatment will also reduce acne scarring and resulted in smaller pores! Not only that, but it will cause new collagen to be produced to give you long-lasting results. Are you wondering what this amazing treatment is? It’s called a PRP Treatment which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma therapy.

What Is A PRP Treatment?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is an amazing treatment that restores your face’s shape, improves its texture and tone, and rejuvenates new and younger looking tissue. This treatment is also nicknamed the Vampire Facial because it uses the patient’s own blood to achieve its stunning results. This is achieved with a 4 step process.

1. Hyaluronic acid fillers will be injected to give your face a great shape.

2. A technician will draw your blood and then use a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich plasma. The growth factors in these platelets are activated so that they can increase the collagen and blood flow in your face.

3. The PRP is then injected into your face with micro-needling after a numbing cream has been applied to your skin and allowed to work. Micro-needling is an FDA approved electronic device that moves across the skin making pinpoint punctures, also called micro-injuries. In response to these punctures being done, growth factors are released and new collagen production is triggered.

4. The final step is recovery and maintenance where you will be instructed how to cleanse the face and you will be given products to use to condition the skin afterward.

How Do I Care For My Skin After The Treatment?

Immediately following the treatment, your skin may feel tight, dry, swollen, sensitive to the touch, and will look and feel sunburned. The redness generally disappears within 24 hours. Swelling and other sensitivity will subside in 2 – 7 days.

Caring for your skin after the treatment is relatively easy. You will be instructed to avoid makeup and sunscreen for 12 hours. The evening of your treatment, you will be required to wash your face with only the gentle cleanser which will be provided before you leave your treatment. Most women can begin to use makeup after the first 12-72 hours. During this time you will be instructed to use a special, gentle cleanser, a Hyaluronic Acid serum, and physical sunblock such as hats, sun glasses, scarves, etc. Three days after the treatment, you can return to your regular skin care regimen, but should avoid alcohol-based toners for two weeks and excessive sun exposure for 10 days. The only other thing you need to do is begin to enjoy your results within a few days and to enjoy your full results in 2 – 3 months!
